The crash happened on Thursday, April 27 around 11:30 p.m., when first responders in Yorktown were sent to Saw Mill River Road between Birdsall Drive and Hanover Street for a reported motor vehicle accident, according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department.

Once arriving, firefighters found that a car had crashed into a utility pole, knocking it down across the roadway and downing power lines. The falling pole also pulled service lines from a nearby house, the department said.

First responders found the driver lying on the shoulder next to their vehicle out of concern that the car was in contact with the downed lines, and promptly cut a path along the wood line to get to them.

The driver was then put in a stokes basket and taken to an ambulance, the department said.

Power was later restored to the street and residence by Con Edison.
